8th Grade ELA 4-5 Block Assignments

Students are beginning to draft research reports--1-2 body paragraphs with in-text citations, composed in the MELCon structure should be typed up and submitted digitally via Google Classroom or as a Google Doc.

Use BOWW handout and in-class work in writing notebooks to select a compelling question for MELCon paragraph 1 as a part of research report.  We will be working with the librarian in class tomorrow to begin researching and organizing evidence into paragraph. 

Ask a parent or older sibling (someone who knows you well) what he or she thinks you should focus on for your goals.  Record and reflect on the conversation in your writer's notebook. 

"Us and Them" Essay/Memoir reading/analysis/response

Book Club "Presenting a Scene" PLUS at least 7 solid entries completed according to expectations --assignment specifics are posted in Google Classroom.  Students are working in pairs or small groups.
