This week is American Education Week, an opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education. The observance of American Education Week began shortly after World War I as a way to raise public awareness of the importance of education. Together, the National Education Association and American Legion developed the week to encourage and generate support for the public school system. This week, at GWMS, we will be taking each day to recognize the importance of education and our parents and staff members who work together to provide students with important learning experiences:

o Monday, November 13, 2017: History of American Education Week
o Tuesday, November 14, 2017: Education Support Professionals Day
*Acknowledgement and celebration of our instructional aides
o Wednesday, November 15, 2017: Parents Day
*Pizza with the principal at 12pm
o Thursday, November 16, 2017: A Day of Thanks
*Advisories will complete an activity to give thanks for their school
o Friday, November 17, 2017: Substitute Educators Day
* Acknowledgement and celebration of our substitute teachers
